GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Desktop & Mobility Engineering (DME) Manager, and following prescribed department, office and firm procedures, the Systems Engineer (SCCM) will provide system administration, support, system maintenance, and operation of a Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) environment. The Systems Engineer (SCCM) will have a strong knowledge of SCCM to include general administration; operating system and application deployment, query driven collection, and creating custom reports. The Systems Engineer (SCCM) will be responsible for keeping the system running and healthy and will work closely with the Information Security team to ensure that systems meet all security requirements.The Systems Engineer (SCCM) is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s clients, attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Duties are performed throughout every work day, as necessary):
Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Microsoft SCCM.
In depth knowledge on using SCCM which involve adding systems to collections, create update packages for Microsoft security bulletins/hot fixes, and create packages for 3rd party software.
Be able to check for enterprise security compliancy using SCCM, and query the environment for specific software installed on systems.
Capable of troubleshooting SCCM agents installed on clients to ensure that all systems are receiving updates and report to the central SCCM server.
Perform Tier 3-level incident and problem support of Windows images and provide necessary recommendations on potential image/system enhancements, speed, security, etc.
Maintain a continuous cycle of patching and reporting to always ensure enterprise wide compliancy.
Research and perform analysis of complex system requirements & capabilities and provide solutions.
Provide integrated solutions utilizing a variety of software products with a focus on Microsoft Windows environment.
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Independently determine root cause for issues, and develop resolutions to be applied enterprise wide.
Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and oversees the deployment of business critical applications to the firm’s desktop environment (virtual/physical).
Schedule installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
Monitor and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
Package, test, deploy, and validate deployment of software packages to include both third party and Monthly Microsoft update packages.
Develop and promote standard operating procedures.
Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Develop and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and tests.
Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and provides input for process improvement.
Ensure adequate documentation of all strategies, processes, and procedures related to the implementation and support of the environment.
Assist with resolution of escalated incidents and participates in problem management activities.
Opens and manages vendor problem tickets to resolution.
Evaluates current procedures and processes for accomplishing objectives and continuously develops and implements improved practices
Participate in cross-functional team projects to implement new or updated technology.
Monitors tools and proactively helps teams with outgoing systems issues.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to read, write and speak English
Experience in SCCM 2012 required
Systems engineering/administration experience in Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
Experience with other supporting components of SCCM such as Microsoft RDS, WSUS, WDS, MDT, MBAM, Bitlocker, WAIK, IIS
