The state of Minnesota's Fourth Judicial District, serving Hennepin County, is seeking to fill a Deputy District Administrator position that is responsible for overseeing the management of multiple divisions of District Court. This position is a member of the Fourth District leadership team and works closely with the District Administrator, the Chief Judge and Presiding Judges to implement the administrative practices, policies, and initiatives of the Fourth Judicial District Court.
Work involves managing, directing, and overseeing the work of multiple district management staff members who are responsible for court operational departments and administrative functions. This position will be responsible for managing the work of Criminal, Civil, Family, Juvenile, Probate/Mental Health, Self-Represented Litigant Centers, Centralized Services divisions, the Research Unit and the Business Practices Unit of the Fourth Judicial District Court.
The Fourth Judicial District Court is a fast paced, diverse urban Court that strives to build strong relationships through innovation and optimization of our resources. We are the State's largest and busiest trial court, handling nearly 500,000 cases each year (about 38% of all cases filed in the state) and serving 1.2 million people, which includes Minneapolis and its surrounding 46 suburban cities (about 22% of the state's population). Being a large urban / suburban trial court of general jurisdiction; criminal/traffic, civil, family, juvenile, and probate/mental health cases are heard in 8 locations throughout the district. The 62 judges, 15 referees, 12 hearing officers and 540 staff members strive to provide an accessible, fair, courteous, efficient and innovative system of justice. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
5+ years of public or private sector management experience, including experience handling complex personnel situations
Experience with immense budgetary responsibility
Experience managing large scale projects
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Master's Degree in Judicial Administration, Public Administration, JD, MBA or equivalent
5+ years of experience in management role in the Minnesota Judicial Branch
Experience managing multiple case types
Knowledge of Minnesota Rules of Court and the Policies & Procedures of Minnesota Judicial Branch
