Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP currently accepting applications for an eDiscovery and Litigation Technology Specialist in our New York City office. There is significant room to take initiative and play an impactful role in continuing to build our successful and growing firm. This role will report to the Director of eDiscovery and Litigation Support Technology.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with case teams in both our NYC and DC offices, providing logistics support and technical troubleshooting.
Support case teams’ litigation technology needs within all phases of the EDRM.
Directly manage outside eDiscovery vendors (review contracts and invoices, solicit price quotes, and scope projects).
Act as liaison between outside eDiscovery vendors and case teams to drive effective, timely and cost-conscious deliverables.
Organize eDiscovery databases (Relativity, Everlaw, Reveal, Brainspace, Opus2, TrialDirector, etc) and make recommendations for efficiency and best practices.
Assist with workload management across the eDiscovery/Litigation Support Technology team.
Maintain technical documentation on matters where necessary (collection log, document processing and exceptions logs, decision logs, and document production logs).
Be a passionate advocate for analytics and automation.
Remain current in trends in eDiscovery and litigation support, and regularly survey and implement best practices in these areas.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a combination of employment, educational, and life experience that demonstrates the qualities and skills below:
Education and Experience: You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in a litigation-specific role at a law firm. An eDiscovery certification—e.g., Certified E- Discovery Specialist (CEDS) or Certified Information Privacy Professional for the United States (CIPP/U)—preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Skills: You have an exceptional working knowledge of eDiscovery and litigation case-management principles, extensive familiarity with ESI Protocols and other data delivery or discovery exchange guidelines (SEC, DOJ, CFTC, FINRA, etc.), fluency with structured load files and the technical specifications for processing and producing documents in legal matters and are tech-savvy.
Clear Communication and Attention to Detail: You express yourself clearly and concisely, always highlighting the most important information. You proactively communicate the status of your work and share updates with colleagues when necessary. You ensure that your work is mistake free.
Confidentiality: You must be able to adhere to Firm policies regarding the protection of confidential data and demonstrate sensitivity to (and good judgment in connection with) confidential attorney, personnel, and Firm matters.
Flexibility: You are flexible to be available after hours to assist with eDiscovery and case- management issues and questions. You are comfortable in an environment where your responsibilities may vary from day to day. You demonstrate a "no job too big, no job too small" attitude, and take a collaborative, team-focused approach to rejuggling priorities and contributing to tasks across the Firm
Ownership, Initiative, and Teamwork: You take ownership of your projects and follow through on their completion. You proactively anticipate, communicate, and work to independently resolve obstacles you encounter in your work. You possess a strong customer-service orientation and ability to work well within a team.

The initial contract term will be twelve months with the possibility of renewal or conversion to a permanent position.
In addition, the successful candidate will be based in the New York City area or willing to relocate.
Compensation: The expected base salary for this role ranges from $130,000 - $160,000 and is dependent on experience.
