We have an exciting opportunity for a Training Specialist in the Washington, DC office at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. We are searching for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team of lawyers, paralegals and staff.
The Training Specialist is responsible for supporting the goals and activities of the Firm’s Technology Learning & Development team. General responsibilities include developing, implementing, and delivering training programs for all attorneys and staff, and preparing written and electronic training materials to supplement classroom instruction.
This Position conducts instructor-led training for new hires; delivers applications training via classroom, e-learning & remote (virtual) platforms; designs and develops instructor-led, virtual, and e-learning curriculum and content; schedules and implements training programs that are comprehensive, well-prepared and educationally sound.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Implements training programs for all attorneys and staff and prepares written and electronic training materials to supplement classroom instruction.
Conducts all training—instructor-led, virtual, and pre-recorded—in a clear and organized manner, in a voice that is audible and a fashion that clearly and effectively conveys the information being presented.
Conducts instructor-led training for new hires.
Delivers applications training via classroom, e-learning and remote (virtual) platforms.
Schedules and implements training programs that are comprehensive, well-prepared and educationally sound.
Anticipates and foresees Firm technology training needs and works with manager to research and design effective programs.
Designs, develops, writes and maintains effective reference materials for training, clearly written, and in accordance with team documentation standards.
Designs, scripts, storyboards, and develops e-learning modules to demonstrate technology use.
Designs, develops and facilitates skills assessments to measure ability to perform.
Maintains and updates the Firm’s learning management system.
Develops, updates, and provides orientation training on current Windows, Microsoft Office and other Firm-related software, in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
Develops technology test plans and performs technology testing, on an as needed basis, with the guidance and support of Firm leadership and department managers and directors.
Provides technical support firmwide as needed.
Other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A Bachelor’s Degree is required; a degree in Education is preferred. A firm understanding of software instruction and technical writing is required. Equivalent combination of an Associate’s degree and experience in the Teaching or Training field will be accepted.
Preferred certifications include: CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+), Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Master, and related certifications.
Minimum three years’ experience in software training position, preferably in a law firm environment in a similarly sized, multi-office professional services organization is preferred. Classroom training experience is required.
Exceptional skills are required in communicating complex technical concepts in a manner readily understood by non-technical users, both orally and literally. High attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Maintain applicable proficiency in all Firm standard software. These include, but are not limited to: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Autonomy DeskSite and FileSite, Litera Innova Numbering, Aderant, InterAction, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsystems Eagle Eye, Litera Change-Pro, My Rendezvous, Chrome River, Microsytems DocXtools, PS Ship, Avaya telephone, Blackberry, iCONECT, West Case Notebook (formerly LiveNote), ADP Workforce Now, and proprietary applications.
Strong understanding of Microsoft or computer field principles and standards. Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads. Ability to present ideas in a clear, business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Advanced knowledge of Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook is also required. Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills: Must possess discretion in working with confidential data, strong proofreading skills, etc. Experience with other technology, including Avaya is highly preferred.
Knowledge of use of learning and development tools including Profiscience UniversitySite learning management system, Articulate Storyline, Microsystems DocXamine, TechSmith Camtasia, TechSmith Snag It, Capensys Pathfinder, Capensys Lia, TutorPro Live Content, and Microsoft SharePoint.
