Boutique immigration law firm in the San Francisco East Bay area is seeking a senior associate attorney with 3-5 years of comprehensive experience in any one of the employment-based NIV (H-1B, TN, L-1, E-2, E-3, O-1) or IV (PERM, EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, AOS) matters. The qualified applicant will be versatile, have strong subject matter knowledge in at least one of the aforementioned areas with strong expertise in client relationship management. The qualified applicant must understand the regulations, case law, and the critical factors that result in positive outcomes with USCIS, DOL and Consulates. Applicants must be able to take direction from the Managing Attorney on matters relating to case strategy and then follow through on execution.
This role will involve a high degree of multitasking, extraordinary accuracy, and meeting deadlines. To be successful in this role the right candidate will have a “can-do” positive outlook and a willingness to learn. They will be motivated to expand their expertise in pursuit of providing critical counsel to clients, and dedicated to their own long-term career.
The main job duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Communicate directly and timely with foreign nationals and HR representatives to track and request documents needed for case applications, and discuss new and ongoing case matters
Prepare nonimmigrant, immigrant and PERM filings (including but not limited to Hs, TNs, Es, Ls and Os) to various government agencies. This includes drafting letters, requesting/organizing supporting documents, and preparing filings for submission
Make extensive use of web based case management software to keep all cases current and up to date
Track case milestones and deadlines and proactively report on any potential delays or timeline risks to the Managing Attorney
Prepare, format, and proofread case documents
Perform online research for immigration matters

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor's degree, JD, and be licensed in a U.S. jurisdiction (preferably California)
Minimum three years of experience practicing business immigration in a high-volume environment
Must have experience directly liasing with clients, including foreign nationals and HR/Corporate
Experience managing complex issues and relaying those concepts in an easy to understand format to clients
Comfortable managing caseloads from case inception (assessment) through to case decisions/approvals
Exceptional organizational skills
Excellent grammar and spelling
Exceptional oral and written communication
Professional attitude and demeanor
Substantive expertise in understanding the rules for filing PERMs and responding to audits
Expertise managing a team of paralegals or legal assistants
Command of MS Word (use of tables, headers/footers, hyperlinks, bookmarks, references, track-changes, etc.)
Experience using cloud based storage and document collaboration software
Strong analytical abilities - understanding when to ask the why questions
Can produce exceptional research using the internet
