JOB SUMMARY: Enterprise Infrastructure is responsible for the Firm's network infrastructure, virtual server, database, and telephone systems. The Enterprise Infrastructure Team supports a reliable, stable, and high performing network and systems environment. The Enterprise Systems Engineer IV, under the leadership of the Senior Manager of Enterprise Infrastructure, is a departmental technology lead, responsible for multiple functional areas. This position serves as final point of escalation for complex, enterprise level issues and is responsible for delivering solutions and support services for: servers, storage, backup and disaster recovery, data replication, and other critical business systems. The Enterprise Systems Engineer IV role is to ensure the stability and integrity of both in-house and external voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Enterprise Systems Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems and provide end user training where required. The qualified individual should be able to operate, manage, and support data center services according to best practices and company policy that meet business continuity requirements and administrative needs. They must also be able to work both in a cooperative team environment as well as individually to oversee the design, implementation, and support of data center operations. A strong degree of creative, "out of the box" thinking, flexibility to expand oneself outside of the job description, attention to detail, and self-motivation are required. The candidate must also possess strong communication skills to broker inter-department engagements and leadership ability to accomplish company-wide objectives. Additionally, the ability to define and document complex designs and architecture standards is mandatory. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Promptly respond to Level III problems and calls on issues regarding server performance, storage sub-systems, messaging and backend applications, backup, Windows/Active Directory, and other supported technologies.
- Communicate appropriately regarding root cause, resolution, preventative measures, and document each incident.
- Serves as a lead or mentor to staff, including assigning or monitoring work and providing direction.
- Evaluate, recommend, design, and implement core business systems.
- Maintains security access to computer system information.
- Plans, analyzes, and implements complex technology; defines requirements for creative, logical, and effective systems; documents and makes recommendations to management.
- Participates in/on a variety of meetings and/or committees, including the Architecture Review Board, as needed. May be called upon to present an architecture design to the ARB.
- Acts as the final escalation point for complex technical issues; can independently identify, research, and resolve complex technical problems.
- Develop and document preventative maintenance programs and standard operating procedures for supported systems.
- Responsible for ensuring that data center resources are available 24 x 7.
- Manage data center networking hardware, operating systems, and applications including capacity planning, staffing, and logistics.
- Provide ongoing maintenance of the network configurations, network enabling services, and systems to assure compliance with the security policies, and other common industry best practices.
- Mentor Enterprise Systems Engineers in assigned functional areas.
- Participate in technology planning activities for the Firm.
- May oversee system administration functions including, but not limited to, account maintenance, system backups, performance monitoring.
- Maintain system documentation on all servers and systems, including performance baselines.
- Maintain server, device, service, and other catalogs to ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy.
- Initiate and analyze changes in change control system. Responsible for adhering to change control process for servers and systems throughout the enterprise.
- Maintain current knowledge of hardware and software changes, and plan for changes in response to dynamic business needs. Continue to develop skills, knowledge and ability to improve processes and procedures as well as to keep updated on trends and developments in the industry. This includes meeting annual personal development goals.
- Participate in after-hours coverage, as needed.
- Perform special assignments and other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: - 10+ years of experience in Cisco-based Enterprise environments, Data Center Infrastructures, and Security Infrastructures.
- Ability to design, install, configure, and support the following:
- Cisco Routing and Switching Technologies
- BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VRF, VLAN, TACACS
- Nexus 9000, 7000, 5000, 2000
- WAN Technologies (point to point, MPLS, VPN, DMVPN, SD-WAN)
- Traffic Management (CoS/QoS with emphasis on Voice over IP and all video technologies)
- Network Management Solutions (Solarwinds, Netbrain, Syslog)
- Wireless Technologies (Controller, Light weight AP)
- Application Centric Infrastructure and Software Defined Network is a plus
- WAN optimization
- F5 Load balancers
- Azure cloud services
- Virtualization Hypervisors
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university strongly preferred or minimum 8-10 years’ experience in medium to large environment.
- Cisco Routing and Switching - CCNP, CCIE is preferred
