This is basic legal work in the City's Law Department. An employee in this classification performs a variety of legal work where procedures and precedents are well established. The work includes legal reference and research work; representing the City on routine civil, workers compensation cases, criminal or traffic cases; reviewing documents for legal sufficiency; preparing legal opinions; and responding to questions from the public. Work is reviewed by a higher-ranking attorney and evaluated on the completeness and legal soundness of the research performed. (The knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience.) Juris Doctor degree
Admission to the Bar in the State of Nebraska. Must be able to transport oneself or coordinate transportation to work sites throughout the City during the course of the work day.

Examination Information: | The examination will consist of a training and experience form designed to assess job-related knowledge, skills and abilities of the position. The training and experience form will be given to candidates who have had their applications reviewed by a recruiter and accepted to test for the position. The form must be completed and returned to the Human Resources Department by March 15, 2022 (passing score 60). Final eligibility list will be an overall score with the Training & Experience form weighted 100%. |
Veteran’s Points: | To claim five (5) points for Veteran’s preference, you must submit proof of service (such as a DD-214) that includes date of induction, date of honorable separation, and Social Security number. (You must have completed more than 180 consecutive days of active duty.)
