Davis Wright Tremaine LLP (“DWT”) is seeking a temporary contract Immigration Paralegal to explore engagement through the Firm’s alternative-track staffing program, DWTSurge. The ideal candidate will have experience working on numerous legal immigration matters, including business non-immigrant visas, within a law firm environment. Candidates should be able to operate with a high level of independence, possess strong client service abilities, and exercise good judgment under pressure, as part of a highly collaborative team.
Immigration paralegals with a minimum of two years of experience, who are open to project-based roles are encouraged to apply. Candidates can expect to work closely with partners, associates, and legal staff, as part of a collaborative team providing high-value legal services to our clients. Paralegals located in the Los Angeles metropolitan area are strongly preferred. The initial contract term will be 6 months. There may be potential for contract renewal beyond the initial term for an additional 6 months
This position will focus on drafting forms and letters for visa applications and petitions, applications for permanent residence, labor certification applications, and other immigrant and non-immigrant related filings. Additionally, the selected resource will have the opportunity to work on I-589 temporary protected status cases, and to assist with petition packages for USCIS and other agencies.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2+ years of experience supporting immigration attorneys
- Individuals located in the Los Angeles area are preferred, but this position does not require any specific geographic location and may be fully remote
- In-depth knowledge of business non-immigrant visas (H-1B, L-1, E, H-2, TN, B-1, O-1, and P) and employment-based immigrant visa processes (EB-1 extraordinary ability, outstanding professor/researcher, multinational manager; EB-2 NIW; EB-2 and EB-3 PERM, and I-485 filings)
- Experience with the following: DOL online application systems (PERM and FLAG); DS-160 online visa applications; and consular processing of immigrant petitions through NVC
- Experience working on Form I-9 compliance and audit matters
- Advanced knowledge of PDF editing
- Experience using INSZoom immigration case management software
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Highly developed task management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests with minimal supervision
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail are required
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
- The flexibility to work overtime, as needed

The position provides medical and vision benefits only, and compensation will be on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and skill level.
