About Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston
Since 1943, Catholic Charities has been listening and responding to our communities. We are committed to fostering self-sufficiency. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to grow and thrive, and our mission is to be people of faith helping people in need achieve self-sufficiency and live with dignity. Guided by God's love, Catholic Charities helps people in southeast Texas by providing caring, compassionate services and advocating for social justice in collaboration with parishes and communities. St. Frances Cabrini Center for Immigrant Legal Assistance (Cabrini Center) became the legal services arm of Catholic Charities in 1986. Since then, the Cabrini Center has been dedicated to providing high quality, free or low cost legal services to low-income immigrants in Greater Houston to help them access and secure immigration status or citizenship to support their full participation in our social, economic and political systems. Cabrini also strives to serve the most vulnerable populations such as victims of crime, unaccompanied children, refugees, and families seeking reunification. In 2018 alone, the Cabrini Center served more than 12,000 immigrants through its vari...ous programs in providing legal consultations, outreach, pro bono assistance, removal defense, and direct legal representation.
