As an integral member of Lilly’s Global Talent Acquisition compliance team, the Associate – U.S. Immigration drives the implementation of Lilly’s U.S. visa sponsorship strategy and leads all aspects of related visa petition processes and programs. As a main point of contact for Lilly’s U.S. visa sponsorship program, this role networks with and guides sponsored employees, recruiters, hiring managers, and U.S. and international HR to ensure efficient and compliant visa sponsorship processes. The associate implements project plans crafted to improve the sponsored employee experience and to keep Lilly’s sponsorship strategy relevant based on changing business needs, the legal landscape, and market trends. For this project work, the Associate – U.S. Immigration will have a dotted line reporting relationship to internal immigration counsel in Lilly Legal.
Key accountabilities include the following:
Lead coordination and execution of immigration sponsorship program projects involving recruiters, HR business partners, legal counsel, and business leaders including periodic reviews of sponsorship support offered and creation of functional-level permanent residency sponsorship programs.
Serve as U.S. immigration subject matter authority within global talent acquisition. Assist recruiters in running Lilly’s U.S. immigration sponsorship strategy and processes to ensure an excellent candidate experience.
Lead visa case processing with external law firm.
Collect and verify company and employee information and documents for evidence.
Serve as authorized signatory for company’s U.S. visa petitions.
Run compliance aspects of visa sponsorship program.
Adjust or create SOPs and practices in accordance with changes to U.S. immigration laws, regulations, and policies.
Handle employee and business requests regarding case strategy or support level. Resolve exception requests.
Maintain self-service resources for the U.S. sponsorship program.
Lead education on Lilly’s U.S. immigration sponsorship program and processes within HR and the business.
Provide reporting and analyze data to gather insights and share findings on the sponsorship program.
Remain abreast of changes in immigration policies and proactively provides information to applicable stakeholders.
Basic Requirements:
Associates in Paralegal Studies, HR or related field with 5 years of relevant work experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, HR, or related field with 2 years of work experience.
Preferences:
Knowledge of U.S. immigration visa types and processes.
Project work with a cross-functional team.
Experience handling a vendor or interacting with legal counsel.
Experience handling compliance for a program and exception requests.
Experience using talent management software.
Proactive, decisive, and able to work autonomously while dealing with ambiguity.
