 The Staff Attorney - Affirmative Immigration Law Department will represent clients with immigration cases, focusing on affirmative filings. The attorney will manage an individual caseload and will also contribute to community outreach events, clinics and presentations, grant reporting, fundraising efforts, assist with supervising volunteers/interns/law clerks, and pro bono attorney recruitment, mentorship, training and supervision, and other tasks. &#xa0;&#xa0; 
 &#xa0; 
 Clinical and Case Work Responsibilities:&#xa0; 
 
 Prepare affirmative filings for applicants.&#xa0;Manage a caseload of approximately 100 cases per fiscal year. Conduct approximately 150 consults per year. 
 Attend immigration clinics and conduct intake screenings.&#xa0; 
 Represent some clients at USCIS and, on occasion, at asylum office interviews.&#xa0; 
 Write Request for Evidence responses; write detailed cover letters for complex affirmative filings including persuasive legal arguments and/or legal briefs.&#xa0; 
 Coordinate, host clinics with, and provide side-by-side training on cases to pro bono attorneys. 
 Ensure that legal work is consistent with agency mission.&#xa0; 
 Community Education Responsibilities:&#xa0; 
 Conduct know-your-rights presentations and information sessions.&#xa0; 
 Develop informational materials on immigration law.&#xa0; 
 Represent La Raza Centro Legal at various coalition meetings.&#xa0;

 La Raza Centro Legal, San Francisco is a non-profit community legal aid office that provides legal representation and counsel to low-income community members and immigrants in San Francisco, San Mateo County, and the Bay Area region.&#xa0; We assist those in need with free legal services in Immigration law, Elder and Disability law including general civil rights matters, and Workers&#8217; Rights.

 Compensation 
 This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. This is NOT a remote position; we currently work in our San Francisco office two days per week.&#xa0; As the pandemic improves and pursuant to Department of Public Health guidelines, we will eventually, at a date to be determined, add additional in-person, in-office workdays.&#xa0; We offer a competitive salary with a benefits package that includes several weeks paid vacation a year, 12 days of sick leave a year and 100% paid employee medical &#38; dental insurance as well as long term disability and AD&#38;D, and life insurance. This position is a non-management position, and thus is a Union SEIU Local 1021 position.&#xa0; In addition, there are 15 paid holidays annually, a generous Simple IRA-retirement plan.

 Desired Qualifications &#38; Experience :  
 
 Law degree and admission to any state bar; 
 Minimum 7 years post-law school legal experience; 
 Experience in the immigrant rights/immigration law field and a demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights issues that affect low-income people; 
 Litigation experience at the trial and/or appellate level, as amicus, and/or in affirmative litigation; 
 Strong writing and legal research skills; 
 Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and advance advocacy strategies, including systemic litigation and advocacy campaigns, in collaboration with partners; 
 Experience effectively collaborating with racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse community groups and coalitions; and

 Core Responsibilities :  
 
 Identify, develop, and implement effective administrative, legislative, and other policy advocacy and litigation strategies, in collaboration with MLRI&#8217;s Immigration team and our statewide Immigration Coalition members;

 MLRI&#8217;s Staff Attorney salary scale is based on years of relevant post-JD attorney experience. For example, starting annual salary at 5 years of experience is $70,000; 10 years is $77,750; 15 years is $84,500;

Our firm focuses primarily on US legal work but also offers counsel on UK and Italian immigration matters. 
 We&#xa0;seek a Senior Paralegal for a key leadership role to manage&#xa0;L1-based petitions, change of status to L-1 status and to liaise with our teams in different offices concerning consular processing issues. &#xa0;The successful candidate may also be called upon to assist with O-1 and E-2 cases. &#xa0;While our firm very rarely receives RFEs on L-1 matters we do receive inbound L1 matters that are already subject to RFE and NOID based on filings made by other law firms, this position will also work to help evaluate and where possible work on those cases. This is a key role in the firm which carries management responsibilities together with significant growth opportunities. &#xa0;This position may also be tasked with responsibility for assisting with the selection and on-boarding of a replacement immigration case management system. 
 While this position will report to the Managing Attorney of our L1 practice based in Virginia Beach the successful candidate is free to work from home or any of our locations and will work with our team globally.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Prepare various immigration filings, documents, applications, packets and liaising with government agencies; 
 Prepare all necessary legal documents in individual cases, including (but not limited to) briefs, petitions, motions, applications and appeals; 
 Participate in community outreach efforts as needed, including group processing events; 
 Maintain grant reporting data on clients and services; 
 Maintain professional contacts in local and national immigration community, as well as attend immigration taskforce and USCIS meetings; 
 Be responsible for ensuring strict client confidentiality; 
 Ensure the avoidance of conflicts of interest. Generally, outside legal casework is prohibited, as it could lead to a conflict or give rise to a professional liability claim; and 
 Other duties as assigned.

 Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively present information, respond to questions;
