Business Immigration Attorney - Remote or NYC | Corstange Law Group

New York, New York, Who we are:
We are a small remote team focusing on nonimmigrant and immigrant business visas for tech startups, as well as a smaller number of family-based cases. Our clients appreciate our approachable, informal, and transparent communication style, and our clear written work. We use technology to make the administrative aspects of case prep as efficient as possible so we can use our time to craft detailed, high-quality filings. We believe that the best way to maintain the high quality we are known for is to invest in ongoing professional development and to place a high value on a truly sustainable work-life balance for everyone who works here. You can see a bit more about us at startupimmigrationattorney.com.
The Position Offered:

You will handle a range of nonimmigrant visas types including H1B, O1, L1A/B, E2, and TN, as well as PERM and non-PERM based green cards in the EB1A, EB1C, and EB2 NIW categories.
You will be supported by a team of paralegals who will handle the initial drafting of forms and support letters for most case types, communication with clients regarding administrative details like obtaining basic documents and signatures, and printing, compiling, and scanning applications for your review.
Your primary role will be formulating case strategy, reviewing and editing paralegal work, and most importantly, building a relationship of trust with your clients through clear, friendly communication. Our clients are almost all early-stage tech startups and small businesses, so instead of interfacing with an HR representative, your primary client contact will typically be the company's founder or CEO.
Due to the nature of the types of businesses we work with, few of our cases fit into a cookie-cutter template. You will need to be creative and able to think outside of the box to create clear and compelling narratives outside of a standard template.
We place a very high value on concrete, and concise communication, whether through written work submitted to USCIS, or emails and phone calls to clients. You must have the ability to clearly and thoroughly explain legal issues in everyday language to clients, and to craft concise written work to submit to USCIS.
Although not required, entrepreneurial attorneys who enjoy participating in business development will have opportunities to participate in marketing activities, and will be compensated for new client origination.

Location:
Our team is currently spread out between New York, Ohio, Texas, Michigan, Kentucky, and Oregon. Exact location is less important to us than finding someone who is a good fit for our culture. We maintain a small office in NYC where we prepare our physical packets to mail. If you are based in NYC and want to come into the office you could, but that is not required.
Benefits Include:

$250/month Pre-tax health expense reimbursement account that can be used to pay health insurance premiums or cover other medical expenses for you and your family
Bar licence and AILA membership fees covered
$1,500/year professional development allowance
Unlimited vacation + approximately 4 weeks of officewide holiday closures
Respect for work-life balance, including flexible hours if desired.
Bonus compensation based on the firm's profitability
Compensation for new client origination
Requirements:

5+ years of experience with nonimmigrant visas.
A law license in any US state.
Creativity and a love of non-standard cases!
Clear, friendly written and verbal communication skills that will make clients feel comfortable over the phone or email.
A proactive, team-minded attitude. We are a small, collaborative group of professionals across all levels.
Ability to learn a number of different software platforms we use for various aspects of our work.

To apply, please use the "Apply Now" button on this job post to send your resume and a cover letter explaining why you think you are a good fit, and why this position appeals to you.

Immigration/Business/Employment Lawyer | Connell Foley LLP

Roseland , New Jersey, As of January 1, 2021 Dornbaum & Peregoy has joined forces with Connell Foley, a large New Jersey commercial law firm, to form the newly created Corporate Immigration and Global Mobility Practice Group, part of Connell Foley’s Labor and Employment Group. As part of a significant expansion of the business/employment practice we are expanding the team and seek an experienced business immigration attorney (2-5 years) to join our group. This is an unusual opportunity to practice corporate immigration law as part of a cohesive team, within an established multi-practice firm; to work closely with senior partners; and directly with an impressive list of clients sourced from diverse practice areas.
Ours is an administrative law specialty (a subset of employment law) that involves detailed analysis of eligibility under alternate categories, and preparation of clear, concise, well-written, persuasive submissions to the administrative agencies that secure work authorization or residence, and/or support and justify the relief sought under the facts and the law.
Accordingly, the work requires the ability to analyze statutes, regulations, memoranda, guidelines, and prepare compelling legal documents for submission to the appropriate agency(ies).
This would include performing research as needed and writing a persuasive case to support the petition submitted for the category sought, that will result in work authorization, extension of work authorization, non-immigrant status, or permanent residence for a foreign national transferring to the US pursuant to employment.
Work would also include advice with and consultation to employers on a number of diverse employment matters, including hiring, termination, reorganization, retention, and regulatory compliance (I-9 audits; E-Verify and Wage and Hour issues) relating to the employment of foreign nationals in a variety of situations.
The petitions are all employment based, so a background in corporate governance and/or tax is helpful to understand the corporate relationships that are the basis for some categories.
For the highly motivated attorney, this is stable position, in a collegial office, in which the attorney will work with partners who are well recognized for excellence in the field, be paid fairly, (with benefits) have reasonable working hours and receive rigorous training in writing, research, and agency practice.
The best fit would be someone with a background in H-1B, L, TN, J, E and RFEs or trained in regulatory analysis (tax or UCC, perhaps in health care) with associated experience in research and writing from the standpoint of exacting interpretation of agency regulations and guidelines who possesses prior business immigration experience.
Competitive salary, full benefits, (401K, health insurance etc) Corporate offices (Roseland, NJ) with extensive on site facilities (gym, cafeteria with water views and outdoor dining, salon on site, conference event and training facilities, 24/7 IT and facilities support, security and parking.
Please email resume, cover letter and writing sample and salary requirements in confidence to Kathleen Peregoy at kperegoy@connellfoley.com

Nationwide, Our firm is a rapidly growing business immigration firm recognized internationally as a leader in our field. We have full-time personnel and lawyers in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Fresno, Miami, London, Florence (Italy), Milan, Rome, Ho Chi Minh City, Delhi and Mumbai. We have affiliated firms in various other markets and are in the process of opening staffed offices in Africa. Our firm focuses primarily on US legal work but also offers counsel on UK and Italian immigration matters.
We seek a Senior Paralegal for a key leadership role to manage L1-based petitions, change of status to L-1 status and to liaise with our teams in different offices concerning consular processing issues. The successful candidate may also be called upon to assist with O-1 and E-2 cases. While our firm very rarely receives RFEs on L-1 matters we do receive inbound L1 matters that are already subject to RFE and NOID based on filings made by other law firms, this position will also work to help evaluate and where possible work on those cases. This is a key role in the firm which carries management responsibilities together with significant growth opportunities. This position may also be tasked with responsibility for assisting with the selection and on-boarding of a replacement immigration case management system.
While this position will report to the Managing Attorney of our L1 practice based in Virginia Beach the successful candidate is free to work from home or any of our locations and will work with our team globally.
Experience with L1 based petitions, especially new office cases
Experience with consular processing and change of status
Solid training in an established business or L1 immigration practice
Experience with O1 and E2 matters is highly desirable
