Overview: The Chief Compliance Officer/Associate General Counsel (“CCO/AGC”) provides oversight and guidance on all compliance issues. In addition, this role identifies key business risks and legal requirements as well as partners with various departments to meet business needs. The CCO/AGC also provides legal advice on a variety of matters related to compliance.
Essential Functions:
Manage all compliance and regulatory requirements from the legal/business perspective and provides legal oversight of risk management.
- Counsel and advise the organization on a variety of compliance issues.
- Apply deep understanding and knowledge of consumer reporting, privacy and data protection laws, including but not limited to:
- The Fair Credit Reporting Act and states’ equivalents
- Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act
- Drivers Privacy Protection Act
- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar data protection laws
- Recently enacted U.S. privacy laws including in California, Virginia, and Colorado
- Review and advise on relevant compliance developments and updates (including new laws, filed complaints, court opinions, agency advisory guidance), summarizing, and discussing with Operations and senior management, when appropriate, to ensure compliance.
- Assess and develop proposed compliance updates/process revisions that are necessary based on legal or regulatory changes.
- Manage special compliance projects as they arise; work with cross-functional teams, including IT and Operations, on continual product and process improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Review and summarize all internal investigations on new litigation matters, including reviewing all case documents, communications, dispute communications, and other information provided by Operations and develop a complete summary of case background.
- Communicate with outside counsel on matters related to all litigation, including discussions on legal theories/strategy, coordination of questions from outside counsel to internal staff, and coordination of all discovery requests in litigation matters (including determining what information we have, what information we need to provide, and what information could be relevant to assist in our defense of each matter).
- Review all documents and communications related to litigation matters, including all court filings, response filings, memorandum and communications from counsel, and all documents and information being provided as part of discovery responses.
- Utilize understanding of technology development and experience to advise engineers and developers on process improvements and automations.
- Research and identify legal requirements and risks in key business activities and with litigation activity.
- Research any necessary legal or compliance issues based on internal or client questions, and draft responses to such questions.
- Draft and review writings or compliance alerts for clients, including News to Note, Legislative Alerts, White Papers, ComplianceAlerts, and responses to individual inquiries from clients.

Location: Warminster, PA, or Mt. Laurel, NJ locations (with potential travel to either location). Remote work arrangements from any other state will also be considered in combination with quarterly travel to headquarters and otherwise as needed.
Experience: Five or more years of related consumer reporting law experience. Experience with technical competencies a plus.
Bar: Must be licensed and admitted in good standing to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey (one of those jurisdictions can be admission through an in-house corporate counsel license).
